This video was released 2 months ago. It’s about a US$20,000 bet between NBA teammates (Washington Wizards) Gilbert Arenas vs. DeShawn Stevenson. Yea, 20k dollars is just like petty cash for these professional sportsmen.

The challenge was plain simple - 3-point shootout.
Shoot 100 3-pointers and get the most balls in. 20k easy.

The bet took place after the Wizards (daily?) practice.
Gilbert Arenas went on to shoot first. And he did ALL HIS SHOTS 1-HANDED!

Gilbert actually made 73 out of 100 3-point shots (73%). That is an extraordinary score if you know basketball (well, they haven’t seen the lights of me yet LOL). And let’s not forget, that’s 1-handed. He shot them like they were free throws. Most people can’t even shoot 73% 5-feet from the rim.

DeShawn Stevenson of course shot 2-handed, and he did great. Probably much better than the average NBA player. I’m not too sure about his score, he lost to Gilbert by a few shots.
But for the most part, he was psyched and distracted by Gilbert.
However according to Gilbert’s NBA blog (yes he’s quite a blogger too), DeShawn was also distracting and goofing around while he was shooting. They just didn’t want to include those in the video.

DeShawn was looking pretty pissed about it. I don’t know if the 20k was paid, but likely it was. To them it’s just like no big deal anyway.
The bet started when DeShawn kept bragging that no one else on the team was shooting 50% on the court. “If you ain’t shooting 50 percent, you can’t talk to me.”

Well US$20k is a hefty price to pay for a lesson. It was more of a moral victory than anything else to Gilbert (a.k.a. Agent Zero). The locker room is all normal, and they’re still teammates.

After the bet, Gilbert participated in the 3-Point Shootout Competition in the 2007 NBA All-Star Weekend. He didn’t win, but he did put up a great show for the fans.
Gilbert practises shooting everyday. Which is why he is one of the best shooters in the NBA now.
And he’s younger than me. Much richer, famous and more successful. -__-
